Chocolate Applesauce Cake

1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 cups applesauce
2 1/2 flour
1 1/2 teaspoons soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons cocoa
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup nuts Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour into a greased and lightly floured cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
